Teaching Budget Skills That Actually Stick
Back in 2022, I watched too many friends stress about money while earning decent salaries. The problem wasn't their income—it was that nobody ever taught them how to manage it properly.
So we started xavendriqo. Not as another finance company promising miracles, but as a place where people could learn practical budget skills without the jargon or judgment.
How We Got Here
Most budget education feels either too complicated or too simplified. We wanted something different—courses that respect your intelligence while breaking down concepts clearly.
Our first workshop in Melbourne had twelve people. Half admitted they'd never looked at their bank statements properly. By the end, everyone had a working budget and knew where their money was actually going.
That response told us we were onto something. People wanted to learn this stuff. They just needed someone to explain it without making them feel stupid or overwhelmed.
What Drives Our Teaching
We've built everything around three ideas that shape how we work with students. These aren't just nice words—they guide every course we create.
Real Situations Only
Every example comes from actual budgeting scenarios. No theoretical nonsense about perfect situations that don't exist. We teach using bills, subscriptions, and expenses that look like yours.
Your Pace Matters
Some people grasp budgeting quickly. Others need time to adjust their habits. Both approaches work fine with us. Our courses let you move at whatever speed makes sense for your life.
Honest About Limits
Budgeting won't solve everything. It can't fix a genuine income problem or erase existing debt overnight. But it can show you exactly where you stand and help you make better choices going forward.
How We Actually Teach
Our method is straightforward. We start with tracking—you can't budget what you don't measure. Then we move into categorization, priorities, and adjustment strategies.
Most students see patterns in their spending within the first week. That awareness alone changes behavior. By week three, they're making conscious trade-offs instead of wondering where the money went.
- Work with your actual income and expenses from day one
- Build flexible systems that adapt when life changes
- Learn to spot problem areas before they become crises
- Develop habits that last beyond the course itself
Who's Teaching You
Our instructors come from finance backgrounds but speak plain language. They've helped hundreds of Australians get control of their budgets.
Freya Ashworth
Freya spent eight years in corporate finance before realizing most people needed help with basics, not investment strategies. She started teaching budget workshops in 2021 and joined us full-time in 2023.
Her approach: no shame, no pressure, just practical steps that work. Students appreciate her directness and her ability to explain concepts without drowning them in terminology.

Our next program starts in June 2026. Spaces are limited because we keep classes small—better discussions, more personal attention, actual learning.
